Participating in the Pack Edu Health and Wellness Coaching program from another time zone has been a great experience for me.
We meet online every Monday at 9 a.m. Central Time, but I live in Arizona, which is on Pacific Time right now. Fun fact: Arizona does not recognize daylight saving time! So, when everyone else changes their clocks, we stay the same — which means that half of the year we are on Pacific Time and half of the year we are on Mountain Time. The bottom line is that I start class at 7 a.m. Mondays. That might not be ideal for everyone, but I love it.
First of all, I’m a morning person, so that helps! Also, getting class done early is great because then, I still have the whole day ahead of me. I also really enjoy hearing about where the other students and faculty are. We often talk about the weather in the different parts of the country, and our experiences where we are living. The group is diverse, which keeps things fun and interesting.
One final note: I honestly don’t believe there is any downside to participating in class from another time zone. With the Zoom platform, it feels like we are all in the same room at the same time. There are barely any technical issues either.
I think it’s great to have the option to be able to attend class from across the country, and still get the same benefits that I would in person.
